But those who blame Bush for the dismal state in which America is now, should not forget that this was inevitable. The sub-prime crisis was the outcome of the very nature of the American economy and its roots that are in the level of consumerism it has. Rather than blaming Bush for the crisis, Americans should be thankful to him for the bailouts. Had Bush not shifted towards a socialist model, the current crisis would have been worse than the 1930 Depression, where the government let the markets decide the fate of US. What appears unthinkable, yet true, is that Bush’s finest legacies are yet to come up. And they will be from Asia, the land where the future lies. America, contrary to the past, is in a better position in Asia. It has formed partnerships with democratic Afghanistan, a democratic Pakistan and has seen historic transformation in its relationship with India, the not-to-be-ignored emerging superpower. What is worth mentioning here is that the foreign policy odyssey, which began in 2001 with a bouquet of promises about doing things in Latin America, turned over to Middle East and is now seeing continuous success in Asia. Latin America may have remained the same, but Middle East is now more peaceful than it was a decade ago and Asia is the in-thing for America.
